...should have been the strongest SH couple in the game, but obviously they're not due to Leonard going a little too knife happy with Stanley.
You may be thinking to yourself "Wait wasn't Stanley that Crazy stalker who left those notes for Heather?" Yes he was. What makes him differant from most stalkers is that he really did want what would have been best for Alessa.
Yes that's right Alessa, not Heather. Stanley only calls Alessa by her new name, but his writings and the doll depict more that he had feelings for Alessa. One of the strongest theories about Stanley is that he was a black sheep of the Order, he became too obsessed with Alessa/Heather and was locked up into Brookhaven hospital. This is where he most likely formed his plan to kill Heather.
Remember that the Alessa in Silent Hill 3 (the memory that clings to Silent Hill) wants nothing more than to die. Actually she wants to kill Heather to stop the birth of God. This is what Stanley also wants to do, although his plans were abit more selfish.
Stanley's idea was to kill Heather, and by doing so killing the God (or the version Heather was carrying.), making Alessa happy, and being with her in a sort of paradise. Possibly even one where Heather could see her father.
Despite the creepy vibe, Stanley really did love Alessa, he wanted to free her from the birthing the God, and bring her to paradise.
It is for this reason that Heather/Alessa and Stanley make a better couple than Walter/Henry, PH/James, Henry/Eileen, Walter/Eileen, Harry/Heather etc....

That actually makes... a hell of a lot of sense.
I like this a lot more than the other theories I've seen on the relation between them, and it's very convincing.

Sometimes, you make me love you. Heather(Alessa)/Stanley were always my OTP...save for Angela/Walter...and that's just fangirl wish fullfillment.

Ooh, Stanley/Heather. That is my Silent Hill OTP.
But other than that, I've always thought there was some sort of connection between the little boy Andy fomr Silent Hill: Play Novel and Stanley.
For those of you who don't know who Andy is, he's this little boy who had a crush on Cheryl in Play Novel. He sees Alessa one day and also seems to have a bit of a crush on her. The same day he goes to Cheryl to tell her about his feelings for her when her dad calls her back into the house and they head of to Silent Hill. But not before Andy sneaks into the trunk (See? The stalkerish behavior is already developing! Ah, but I digress.) When the jeep crashes soon after, Andy apparently dies without being able to confess his feelings.
But maybe he didn't. Maybe he lived, but with no memory of his past. Perhaps a cult member found him and out of his or her infinite kindness put him in an orphanage, such as (bum bum bummmm) Wish House. Maybe all he could recognize was the object of worship, St. Alessa. His crush developed into an obsession and he was shut away into Brookhaven by the Cult.
I could be wrong, though.

What if Stanley Coleman was really that kid "Andy" from the Play novel?
How it holds up.
1. Andy wound up in Silent Hill and if the game had succeeded one of the endings could have had him kidnapped by the Order
2. Andy had a tendency of watching Cheryl all the time, and even thought about talking to her. He didn't know her name.
3. Stanley writes in one of his journals that "I never knew your name until today."
Why it doesn't hold up.
1. The game did not succeed, and it's pretty safe to say that the SH PN has no effect on the plot. Even if it did we'd have to assume that Andy made it back home safely
2. Stanley wrote "I never knew your name or face until today." Giving indication that he really didn't know Heather/ Cheryl
again thoughts? I'm split on this.
But this theory completely conflicts with what we have.

In a portugese Magazine, Team Silent were interviewed. They confessed that they considered giving Angela and Walter a romantic relationship, but ultimately it was dropped. Team Silent thinks in interesting ways, so don't discount PN to be non-canon SO quickly.

Well, in a way it could be kinda metaphorical. He wouldn't know Heather's face if he was Andy because, of course, he knew Alessa/Cheryl, but at the time, Heather did not exist. Not knowing her name goes with that, he would have known Alessa/Cheryl, not Heather.
One line I find interesting is "I have never lost sight of you." When I read that it seems like he's trying to say that even in his past he never lost sight of her, not just in the Hospital.
But the most interesting line, by far is "We haven't been able to see each other in so long." If he never met her at all before, why would he say something like that? Obviously, he's known her from sometime before. So, it would fit that he was Andy.

Which is also entirely possible. We really won't know unless they come up with 'Silent Hill: Stanley's Story'.
Which would rock my socks. I wish they had more stuff on Stanley.
